WHAT: 14-mile road ride around Freedom, NH
WHEN: Wednesday, September 11, 10:30 a.m.
WHERE: Ossipee River boat launch, Effingham, NH
LEADER: Linda Nicholson and Bennie DiNardo
Yay, Linda Nicholson's back from Italy, and eager to show us around some of her favorite quiet country roads in Effingham and Freedom, NH.
Park in the lot at the Ossipee River boat launch in Effingham, at the intersection of Routes 25 and 153. The round trip is 14 miles, with 712 feet of climbing.
The roads here are pretty quiet; Linda and I did the ride earlier this year and had a great time. We hope to stop for a snack in Freedom Village, if the store is open.
Make sure your bike is ready to ride; my simple reminder to myself is to check ABC (air, brakes, and cables) before leaving the house. Helmets are required. Flashing lights at the rear to warn cars of your presence is an excellent idea. Nordic Skier has some good ones.
