WHAT: WOW Trail, Laconia
WHEN: Wednesday, August 14, 9:30 a.m.
WHERE: Union Avenue and Elm Street, Lakeport/Laconia
LEADER: Bennie DiNardo
Third time's the charm! We've been rained out the last two weeks, and I'm away next week. So let's try for a week from Wednesday, August 14.
Park in the Laconia Lakeport Parking Lot off Elm Street at the corner of Union Avenue and Elm Street in Lakeport, across from the Lakeport Opera House (about a 40-minute drive from Wolfeboro). The round-trip ride is 8.4 miles, with 310 feet of climbing. We'll follow the trail through downtown Laconia to its end in Winnisquam, then turn around and ride back. It's all trail or sidewalk; no riding in traffic.
Several locations available in downtown Laconia for lunch or snack, or we can ride all the way back and get a great sandwich at Wayfarer Coffee in the Lakeport Opera House, just across the street from the trail's start/finish.
Make sure your bike is ready to ride; my simple reminder to myself is to check ABC (air, brakes, and cables) before leaving the house. Helmets are required. Flashing lights at the rear to warn cars of your presence is an excellent idea. Nordic Skier has some good ones.
Please register if you are interested! If you want to download the ride to a Garmin or other device, here's a link to the Ride with GPS map: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47711381.
